Our cookie policy.
How we use cookies to make your study experience better.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They help websites remember your preferences, understand how you use the site, and improve your experience. Cookies can be "persistent" (remain after you close your browser) or "session" (deleted when you close your browser). We also use local storage and session storage for similar purposes where appropriate.
Essential Cookies
Required for the Campus AI platform to function. These cookies enable authentication (maintaining your signed-in session), security (CSRF protection), and core platform functionality. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as the platform would not function without them. These cookies do not collect personal information for marketing purposes and are typically session cookies that expire when you close your browser.
Analytics Cookies
Help us understand which features are most used, how students and staff interact with the platform, and where improvements can be made. We use a privacy-preserving analytics service configured to minimise data collection: IP addresses are anonymised, data is not shared with third parties, and no cross-site tracking is performed. Analytics data is retained within our AU-hosted infrastructure. You may opt out of analytics cookies through your browser settings without impacting platform functionality.
Preference Cookies
Remember your settings, subject selections, UI preferences (dark mode, layout), and study session state. These cookies improve your experience by saving your choices so you don't have to reconfigure the platform each visit. Preference cookies typically persist for up to 12 months.
Third-Party Cookies
Campus AI uses minimal third-party cookies. Our authentication provider (Clerk) sets essential cookies for secure sign-in. Our AI inference provider (Google Cloud Vertex AI) sets cookies necessary for API functionality — these are strictly limited to what is required for request processing. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, social media tracking cookies, or any cookies that track your activity across unrelated websites. Our payment processing is handled by Stripe, which may set its own cookies during checkout on institutional billing portals.
Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, and you can set preferences for specific websites. However, disabling essential cookies will impact platform functionality — you may be logged out more frequently, experience issues with study session persistence, or be unable to access certain features. Analytics and preference cookies can be disabled without affecting core functionality. Instructions for managing cookies are available in your browser's help documentation.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our platform evolves or as regulatory requirements change. Institutions will be notified of material changes at least 30 days in advance. This policy was last updated on July 1, 2026.
