Campus AI helps Australian universities deploy responsible, governed AI across teaching and learning. We exist to bridge the gap between the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in education and the rigorous standards of academic integrity, data sovereignty, and privacy that Australian higher education demands.
Founding Story
Campus AI began as “VCE Study Buddy” — a platform built to help Victorian secondary students prepare for their final exams using AI-powered flashcards, quizzes, and study support. What started as a single-user study tool grew to over 10,000 active students across 40+ schools.
In 2025, as Australian universities began grappling with how to adopt AI at scale while maintaining academic integrity and meeting strict regulatory requirements, we saw an opportunity to apply everything we learned from secondary education to the higher education context. The Campus AI platform was born — rebuilt from the ground up as an enterprise SaaS solution with multi-agent orchestration, role-based access, audit logging, and Australian data residency at its core.
Why Australian Higher Education
Australian universities operate in a unique regulatory environment. Data sovereignty requirements under the Privacy Act 1988, state-based information privacy legislation, and the strict academic integrity standards of TEQSA and the Higher Education Standards Framework mean that offshore, “one-size-fits-all” AI solutions simply don't meet the bar.
Campus AI was designed from day one for this context. Our architecture enforces Australian data residency at rest, processes AI inference within AU regions (Google australia-southeast1, Azure AU East), maintains immutable audit logs with 7-year retention, and provides the guardrails, human-in-the-loop review, and transparency controls that responsible AI deployment demands. Every design decision — from our role-based access model to our logging pipeline — reflects the real requirements of Australian university IT, legal, and academic governance teams.
